Headteacher Weekly Newsletter

Mr Litten will be writing a weekly newsletter,  with the  aim to share with you all that is good about our school and its children.

Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils,

Last week was incredible: Odd Socks Day, the school kitchen staff winning an award, Year 6 visited POSH, Children in Need and even a visit from Pudsey Bear and his very enthusiastic team. Lots of happiness, fun and carefree moments - something we all want for every child.

Odd Socks Day

It's all part of Anti-Bullying Week. A fun way to help children understand that its OK to be different and its not OK to be a bully.

Odd Socks Day is a national event all about celebrating what makes someone unique.

It's organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance which is a group of organisations, charities and individuals who work together to try and stop bullying.

We encouraged our children to wear their favourite odd socks (thank you for rummaging in the sock draw for them).

It's to symbolise that we are all different and that children should be themselves, accepting of one another and celebrate difference.

Reception class formed a circle with their feet to celebrate how they are different, unique yet all belong together.

Children from across the school joined me for a fun photo in the library!

Thank you for supporting this event.

Children in Need

A very special children in Need this Year!!! Not only did we have great fun dressing up and raising money, but Pudsey Bear also came to visit!

There is a lovely film of New Road children on the BBC Cambridgeshire website - please have a look and be super proud!

School Kitchen

A huge thank you to Nicki and Georgia in the school kitchen for all they do. They always go above and beyond to make mealtimes special for the children and even more so on special days such as Children in Need!

Nicki also received an award last week for the excellent service she provides as a kitchen manager. Congratulations to Nicki and Georgia.

They are busy planning lots of fun ideas for the Christmas menu – exciting!

The term dates and a list of future dates are below. Thank you for reading our newsletter we are proud of our school, its staff, and its amazing children.

Kindest Regards,

Mr Rob Litten
